  • Spotify is introducing “Verified by Spotify” badges on artist profiles, shown as green checkmarks. The update is meant to help confirm real artists on the platform, using signals like listener activity, engagement, and presence outside streaming such as tours and social media.

Industry Insights

  • Uber has introduced hotel booking within its app through a new partnership with Expedia Group. The update marks the company’s latest expansion beyond transportation as it continues building a broader, all-in-one travel and services platform.

  • European and Australasian carriers are expanding long-haul east–west routes to meet rising demand as Gulf airlines scale back operations. Flight reductions from Emirates, Qatar Airways, and Etihad Airways, driven by regional airspace restrictions and safety concerns, are pushing travelers toward itineraries that avoid the Middle East.

  • Southwest Airlines has expanded its Hawaii-based Ohana Rewards program, increasing earning potential for inter-island travelers.  Members will now earn at least 1,000 Rapid Rewards points on every one-way flight between Hawaiian islands, boosting incentives for frequent regional travel.

  • At the 2026 London Marathon, Adidas’ Adizero Adios Pro Evo 3 helped Sabastian Sawe make history by breaking the two-hour barrier in the marathon. The $500 shoe sold out immediately on the Adidas website, and has since surged on the resale market, driven by intense media and social buzz around the milestone performance.
